Follow our curated art trail to some of the city’s most beautiful and atmospheric corners to see the work of local and regional artists. The seven installations within the trail have been inspired by various aspects of nature; from honeycomb to blossom, tree roots to birdsong.
Destination Chester, a network of the city’s tourism partners, commissioned the installations from outdoor arts specialists Wild Rumpus. To accompany the installations, the community team at Chester’s Storyhouse are staging a series of free events and activities for all the family.
So enjoy a walk around the wonderful installations, take part in a creative workshop and experience Chester Designed By Nature.
Augmented Reality Artwork ‘Re-designed by Nature’ by Jack Hardiker
In the time of strict lockdown restrictions, a solitary walk in the park was the cyclical centrepiece of a work-from-home day. The gentle sights and sounds of nature became a corrective to the frenetic city roar of the pre-pandemic life we remembered.
‘Redesigned by Nature’ is a playful opportunity to rewild Chester Town Hall and the iconic Eastgate Clock using Augmented Reality. Visitors can watch plants and animals take back each landmark, transforming them into a natural idyl.
